Working Together Online

You’ve made a huge decision to get help.

But you’re busy… and time is tight.

There might not be a specialist near you who can give you the support you need.

That’s where I come in.

There are so many reasons why working online makes sense…

Working together via video chat allows you to meet from the comfort of your home, car, office, or private space. You get to decide where you’ll feel most comfortable as you begin to journey through your grief.

Difficult emotions often arise during our sessions. If that happens, being in the comfort and safety of your own space, rather than having to make a commute after a session, can release you from that overwhelming trip home.

Grief is exhausting, no matter which part of it you are processing. Eliminating travel time and the hassle of traffic and parking frees up the energy and time that you can reallocate to your care and self-nourishment.

For my anticipatory clients, being in your homes allows me to meet your animal in your own space, see your things, and see the two of you interacting. This gives me tremendous insight into your relationship and your life together.

For my post-loss clients, many find tremendous comfort being where your animal lived. Inviting me into that space gives me a window into your grief in an intimate way.

But if you prefer to do your sessions away from your animal’s space, that’s perfectly okay. We’ll talk about what will work best for you.

There are two key ingredients for success with this kind of therapy…

The first is that we agree on your therapeutic goals.

Whether you want to change some of your grief-related behaviors, enhance your ability to cope, navigate a challenging decision-making process, engage in better grief care for yourself, or any other personal goal you would like for yourself, I will help you move out of your comfort zone to stretch and grow to meet those goals.

The second is the quality of the relationship connection we build.

One of the most meaningful pieces of feedback that clients give me is that they feel like I’m their best friend as we go through your grief journey together. I strive to provide a comfortable, nonjudgmental, and open space where we can build a meaningful relationship together.

Sometimes, clients worry that what they are experiencing is not “normal” or that they will shock me with their thoughts, feelings, and actions. I assure you, I have heard it all. I am not afraid of your pain. I believe you. During counseling, the collaboration we create is based on trust, empathy, and communication. You will deeply feel all three of those pillars as we work through your struggle together.

Wondering if it’s as good as in-person therapy?

Numerous studies, including one by The American Medical Association, reveal that telehealth options for counseling are just as effective as they are in person.

Our interactions online are genuine, meaningful, and connected.

Many of my clients report that they find it easier to engage in their grief counseling work when they don’t have to travel somewhere to achieve it. They find it easier to cry and process challenging emotions in their own space. And, after a challenging session, it can be comforting to be in a familiar space to keep processing your feelings.

Making the most of our time together online…

All that’s required is a private space with a secure, reliable Internet connection and a device with a camera – laptop, iPad, or phone!

I prefer to work via Zoom because it strengthens our non-verbal connection, but I am happy to accommodate phone sessions if you prefer.

Some of my clients prefer to meet away from their companion animals, and some prefer to include them. We’ll talk about what might be right for you.

No matter where you are, grief support is available to you.

I’m here to facilitate your recovery.

You may be afraid of confronting your pain, worried about judgment, or may not feel ready to let go of feeling stuck in grief. I get it. It’s a big step to take.

There is no “right” time to begin this work. Don’t wait one more day to find some relief from your pain. I can help you, and we will get through this difficult time in your life together.
